With the Clocks changing and Half term (If that applies to you?!) the Body system gets out of sync and can take a few days or even weeks to get back into a normal routine
Sleep is super important for the body to heal and recover
Sleep is very individual to each person
Here below are a few tips, tricks and facts …….
Tips for Better Sleep (Sleep Hygiene)
* Establish a Routine, Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day
* Keep the bedroom dark, quiet, and comfortable
* Relax for at least 30 minutes before bed (e.g., warm bath, reading)
* Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, and alcohol late in the day
* Limit Screen Time, Avoid phones and TVs in bed
Common Symptoms of Sleep Problems
* Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep (Insomnia)
* Waking up frequently during the night or waking up too early
* Feeling tired, sleepy, or irritable during the day
* Snoring, gasping, or interrupted breathing (Sleep apnea)
* Unusual behaviours like sleepwalking or night terrors (parasomnias)
A healthy adult usually needs around 7 to 9 hours of sleep. However, age, health and personal circumstances affect how much sleep we need, plus some people naturally sleep more than others
Adequate sleep boosts immunity, stabilizes metabolism, aids in weight control, and lowers the risk of chronic conditions like diabetes
Sleep is critical for muscle recovery, acting as the primary time for tissue repair, growth hormone release, and energy replenishment. During deep sleep (Stage 3), the body reduces inflammation, repairs muscle damage, and restores glycogen, with roughly 95% of growth hormone released while sleeping
Not getting enough sleep can lead to poor focus, mood changes, increased pain sensitivity, and can be fatal faster than food deprivation!!
FACTS….. Did you know??
Humans spend about one-third of their lives asleep (My Dogs seem to spend their whole day asleep!!)
Sleeping on your left side can help with digestion and reduce heartburn
Animal Sleep Facts…
Koalas sleep 18–22 hours a day
Elephants only sleep about 3 hours
Sea otters hold hands while sleeping to avoid drifting apart – super cute!
Auricular Acupuncture is considered a safe, effective, and evidence-based complementary treatment for insomnia, often improving sleep quality, duration, and reducing night time awakenings
It works by stimulating the nervous system to increase melatonin, decrease stress hormones (Cortisol), and promote a parasympathetic (Relaxation) response. It is often used for insomnia related to anxiety, stress, or pain
Auricular acupuncture can help alleviate side effects such as hot flushes, night sweats and poor sleep. It is particularly effective for Breast, Prostate and Gynaecological Cancer Patients who are currently undergoing hormone treatment
It is amazing how our bodies can survive with little sleep - we need to break the routine to get back into a routine and sleep is the best recovery system for body and mind
The Acu Tuning Fork Treatment and Crystal Singing Bowl Sound Bath sessions can help push the reset button too for the Body System
